Wellington: Sky Show Fireworks

Remember, remember the 5th of November. It’s Guy Fawkes guys, and you know what that means….fireworks! Every year, Wellington puts on a magnificent display of fireworks for thousands of people around the city to watch, released from a floating barge in the harbour, the display will dazzle, brighten and blow away all Wellingtonians, rain or shine. This year, it was touch and go for a … Continue reading Wellington: Sky Show Fireworks

Day trip: Lyall Bay

The thing about living smack bang in the middle of the city is that you forget about the world outside of the urban outskirts; the clear air, the waves, the beach. When there aren’t monstrous skyscraper shadows following you around everywhere, there is more beauty to be seen on a summers day like yesterday. Continue reading “Day trip: Lyall Bay”

The Little Waffle Shop

What’s that saying again…. good things always come in small packages? Or in this case, small shops. The Little Waffle Shop is exactly what it says on the tin! Simplistic is sometimes the way to go: just two window shutters that open up to a world of sweetness squeezed into what looks like nothing more than a few square metres of space, if that!  Continue reading “The Little Waffle Shop”

Mount Victoria

Often living in a city, you begin to lose sight of nature and how beautiful it can be. As corny as that sounds, it’s true! Sometimes you have to remove yourself from the buzz of the city and escape into the leafy heights of nature. Arguably, my favourite part about the cities of New Zealand, though other cities often offer the same, is the natural element situated amongst the high-rise buildings. Whether it is a park, a forest or a hill, a sense of freedom is provided to you through the ability to walk underneath the shade of a tree without your feet stepping upon hard concrete. Superbad Soul Section at The Rogue & Vagabond

Every once in a while, there comes a time when all you need in life is an age-old throwback to the songs that echoed through your childhood, playing nostalgically from the car radio. Those ones that as you cringed at your parents singing at the top of their lungs to Prince’s ‘Kiss’, you had no idea it would bring such good memories to your life … Continue reading Superbad Soul Section at The Rogue & Vagabond

So, I have a question.

You have a big exam coming up this afternoon. You’ve spent all week stuck inside, studying for over 50+ hours and now the day has actually arrived. Are you going to: A) stay inside all morning panicking and hurriedly scrambling through your notes? B) sleep in until an hour before the exam and get up and go? Or C) go for a walk and make the most of the beautiful blue sky outside before you are stuck in an exam room for 2 hours? Continue reading “Shake”

Dirty Little Secret

It’s just as promiscuous as it sounds. This Dirty not-so-little Secret is a tempting enclave situated on top of the Wellingtonian world, looking down on the hustle and bustle of Courtenay Place. A haven for students needing an escape from the dregs of Scrumpy left in their bottles from the previous night and the ultimate quencher for the 9-to-5-induced thirst perched on the lips of every Sangria lover in town.
